EastEnders took the lead in the soaps ratings yesterday, attracting just under 8 million viewers.

Thursday's instalment of the Walford-based serial, which saw Heather attend the hospital and discover an anomaly in her test results, was watched by 7.8m (39.5%) at 7.30pm.

BBC Three's repeat at 10pm added a further 817k (4.7%).

Emmerdale's outing at 7pm, during which a suspicious Natasha confronted her husband Mark about his recent dubious behaviour, attracted 6.06m (32.6%).

Doctors' penultimate episode of the week, titled 'Lost and Found', drew 1.8m (24.1%) in its usual 1.45pm slot.

Mark's raid on The Loft during last night's Hollyoaks interested 1.43m (8%), while E4's first look offering took 514k (3.1%). E4+1's repeat transmission added 148k (0.8%).

Meanwhile, Five's edition of Neighbours, during which Miranda finally admitted the truth to Bridget, logged 1.44m (10.8%) at its traditional time of 5.30pm, before Fiver's 7pm repeat added 354k (2.1%).

Home and Away's screening at 6pm, which featured Ruby rumbling Charlie and Joey's relationship, managed 1.04m (6.4%). Fiver's first look 30 minutes later had 619k (3.9%).
