Coronation Street was the victor in the early evening soaps battle on Friday, overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield serial's final two episodes of the week, which saw Martha leading Ken to the bedroom and Colin collapsing, were watched by 8.31m (43.4%) and 8.11m (38.7%) respectively.

ITV2's repeat transmissions between 11pm and midnight added a further 247k (2.2%) and 246k (3%).

EastEnders' instalment at 8pm, during which Billy confessed all to Dot about the night Jase was murdered, delivered 7.67m (38.6%). BBC Three's 10pm repeat later added 602k (3.5%).

Meanwhile, Emmerdale's offering, in which Mark confronted Debbie over her interference in his marriage, managed 6.05m (34.6%) at 7pm.

Five's iconic edition of Neighbours, which featured Harold leaving Ramsay Street for the final time, grabbed 1.5m (11.7%) at 5.30pm, while Fiver's repeat added 172k (1.1%) at 7pm.

Doctors' screening at 1.45pm on BBC One, titled 'Such Devoted Sisters', had 1.46m (22.5%).

Hollyoaks took a dip in the ratings, averaging 1.13m (6.8%) at 6.30pm, its lowest audience since the end of February. E4's first look edition, meanwhile, took 406k (2.6%).

Aden's decision to break up with Belle in Home and Away interested 1.04m (6.8%) at 6pm on Five, before Fiver's first look logged 461k (3.1%).
