EastEnders took the lead in the soap ratings last night, overnight figures show.

Its penultimate episode of the week, during which Stacey lost control in the salon, interested 7.88m (38%) at 7.30pm. BBC Three's 10pm repeat added a further 846k (4.8%).

Emmerdale's offering at 7pm, which saw a drunken David embarrassing himself in front of the locals at the pub, managed 6.09m (31.8%).

BBC One daytime soap Doctors drew 1.64m (24.9%) at 1.45pm for its episode titled 'Under Pressure'.

Hollyoaks' screening at 6.30pm, which featured Nancy celebrating her birthday, was watched by 1.51m (8.3%). E4's first look instalment logged 488k (2.9%), before its timeshift repeat on E4+1 added 123k (0.6%).

Five's edition of Neighbours in its regular 5.30pm slot took 1.38m (10.3%), while Fiver's 7pm repeat added 217k (1.3%).

Home and Away's outing at 6pm on Five, during which Nicole reluctantly decided to leave Aden alone, averaged 1.09m (6.5%), before Fiver's first look managed 532k (3.3%).
