Andrew Sachs's Weatherfield debut made Coronation Street the most-watched soap on Friday evening.

The Manchester soap's final two instalments of the week - which saw Norris bid farewell to his competition companion Mary, before coming face-to-face with his brother Ramsay (Sachs) after over 50 years - were watched by 8.45m (41.4%) and 8.33m (37.5%) respectively.

ITV2's repeats between 11pm and midnight added 274k (2.4%) and 290k (3.4%).

EastEnders' outing at 8pm, which followed bipolar Stacey as she ricocheted around the Square, delivered 7.83m (36.9%) at 8pm. BBC Three's 10pm repeat was the most-watched multichannel programme of the day, adding 561k (3.3%).

Emmerdale's offering, during which Rodney discovered his daughter's pregnancy, was seen by 6.33m (33.6%) at 7pm.

Doctors' Friday episode, titled 'Worlds Apart', averaged 1.79m (24.6%) in its usual 1.45pm slot.

Justin's confession to Hannah about helping Warren move Sean Kennedy's body in Hollyoaks' screening, interested 1.49m (8.3%) in its traditional 6.30pm slot, while Channel 4+1's timeshift outing added 127k (0.7%). E4's first look took 436k (2.6%).

Neighbours' 5.30pm transmission, during which Steve hit rock bottom, attracted 1.41m (10.3%), before Fiver's repeat added 163k (1%) at 7pm.

Five's Home and Away episode had 1.02m (6.2%) at 6pm, while Fiver's first look drew 501k (3.1%) 30 minutes later.
