Emmerdale took a overall lead of nearly one million viewers last night during the schedule clash with EastEnders.

Yesterday's hour-long instalment of the Yorkshire soap, during which Mark's secret past with his wife Faye was finally revealed, was seen by 6.13m (32.4%) from 7pm.

EastEnders' edition, meanwhile, which featured Billy face the tough decision as to whether to give evidence against Terry, averaged 5.28m (26.7%) over 30 minutes from 7.30pm.

During the head-to-head period, Emmerdale's audience still topped that of its BBC rival, logging 5.97m (30.2 %).

EastEnders' repeat outing at 10pm on BBC Three, however, was the most-watched multichannel programme of the day, adding 1.29m (6.6%).

Coronation Street's rescheduled third transmission of the week delivered 7.37m (33.4%) at 8pm.

Five's screening of Neighbours at 5.30pm delivered 1.49m (11.9%), before Fiver's repeat at 7pm added a further 227k (1.4%).

Hollyoaks' second episode of stunt week, which featured Warren threatening Justin into burning down The Loft, had 1.42m (8.2%) at 6.30pm, while E4's first look managed 476k (2.9%). E4+1's repeat drew 153k (0.8%).

Doctors' pulled 1.4m (19.6%) for its episode titled 'Hamilton Is Out', guest starring Corrie star Ryan Thomas's brother, Adam.

Home and Away averaged 1.07m (6.9%) for its 6pm screening on Five, while Fiver's first look attracted 534k (3.4%).
