EastEnders pipped Coronation Street in the soap ratings on Friday evening, early figures show.

The Walford soap's final instalment of trial week, which saw football hooligan gang boss Terry Bates found guilty for Jase Dyer's murder, averaged 7.13m (38.3%) at 8pm. BBC Three's 10pm repeat added a further 547k (3%).

Coronation Street's single Friday outing, during which Peter and Michelle found themselves in a passionate clinch, drew 6.99m (41.1%). ITV2's multichannel repeat added 105k (3.4%) at 1.15am.

Meanwhile, Emmerdale managed 5.01m (32.8%) in its usual 7pm slot.

BBC One's daily dose of Doctors, titled 'No Going Back', grabbed 1.45m (24.2%) at 1.45pm.

Hollyoaks' climactic final edition of stunt week, which featured the demise of villain Warren Fox, was seen by a meagre 1.35m (9.5%) at 6.30pm. E4's first look took 561k (4.1%) 30 minutes later.

Five's Neighbours put in 1.16m (11.2%) at 5.30pm, before Fiver's repeat showing added 198k (1.5%).

Home and Away fell below the million mark for the third time in a week for its last transmission of the week, averaging 871k (6.6%) at 6pm. Fiver's first look had 466k (3.7%).
