The BBC soap's instalment, which featured Nick and Bradley caught in a gas explosion at the café on Bridge Street, was watched by 6.29m (33.7%) at 7.30pm.
Emmerdale's one-hour edition, during which Andy locked himself in Butler's with Debbie and Sarah, logged an overall audience of 4.98m (28.1%) at 7pm.
During the head-to-head period at 7.30pm, Emmerdale lost around half a million viewers, dipping to 4.59 (24.6%).
Meanwhile, BBC Three's 10pm EastEnders repeat added a further 1.33m (7.5%) and was the most-watched multichannel programme of the day.

E4's first look outing took 649k (4.3%) at 7pm, before E4+1's repeat added 188k (1.1%).
BBC One's daily medical drama Doctors put in 1.43m (24.4%) for its episode titled 'Musical Bumps' at 1.45pm.
Neighbours' 5.30pm episode on Five had 1.28m (11.2%), while Fiver's repeat added 180k (1.2%) at 7pm.
Five's Home and Away offering at 6pm managed 1.01m (7%), before Fiver's first look attracted 446k (3.1%).
