Hour-long 'Emmerdale' beats 'Enders'

An hour-long episode of Emmerdale thoroughly beat BBC One's EastEnders in the ratings on Tuesday evening - the same day that the soap's executive producer, Louise Berridge, quit.
Preliminary numbers show Emmerdale and ITV1 with 8.1m viewers, a 41.5% share. EastEnders on BBC One had 6.2m viewers, a 30% share. The previous low for EastEnders, 6.4m viewers, was set in May.
