
BBC soap EastEnders comfortably led its ITV rival Emmerdale by almost one million viewers in last night's head-to-head ratings battle.
Yesterday's instalment, which saw Amira return to Walford for Syed, delivered 6.16m (30.4%) at 7.30pm.
Meanwhile, Emmerdale's hour-long episode, during which Bob tried to explain his feelings for Gennie, averaged 5.62m (29.1%).
During the clash period, however, Emmerdale's audience dropped to 5.12m (25.3%).
BBC Three's 10pm EastEnders repeat was the most-watched programme of the day, adding a further 999k (5.6%).

BBC One's edition of Doctors, titled 'The Lodger', interested 1.57m (22.6%) in its usual 1.45pm time slot.
Five's outing of Neighbours, which featured Rebecca admitting her feelings for Andrew, brought in 1.24m (9.5%) at 5.30pm, while Fiver's 7pm repeat added 208k (1.3%).
Home and Away drew 1.01m (6.3%) at 6pm, while Fiver's first look managed 536k (3.4%).
