Coronation Street led in the soap ratings last night, early figures show.

Yesterday's midweek instalment, which saw Maria rushed to hospital after a false pregnancy alarm, logged 7.65m (37.5%) at the slightly earlier time of 7.15pm. ITV2's 11pm repeat added a further 329k (3.1%).

Emmerdale, meanwhile, averaged 5.12m (26.6%) in its earlier 6.45pm time slot.

BBC One's outing of Doctors, titled 'Heartfelt Gestures' took 1.48m (22%) at 1.45pm.

Neighbours' screening at 5.30pm on Five, which saw Cass begging her stalker to stop harassing her, was watched by 1.38m (10.1%). Fiver's 7pm repeat added 182k (1%).

Channel 4's transmission of Hollyoaks interested 1.31m (6.9%) over 30 minutes. The first half averaged 1.35m (7.3%), but when Emmerdale began at 6.45pm, the teen soap's audience dipped to 1.26m (6.6%).

Channel 4+1's timeshift repeat added a further 111k (0.6%), while E4's first look drew 434k (2.5%).

Home and Away attracted 973k (5.7%) at 6.30pm, while Fiver's first look managed 566k (3.4%).
