Billy Murray is the latest new addition to the cast of EastEnders as Kathleen Hutchison's time at the helm of the troubled soap gets underway.
The actor - best known as bent copper Don Beech in The Bill - will play a new character called Jonny Allen, billed as "the boss of the bad boys, pure big league." Jonny will apparently make Andy Hunter - the Square's current 'hardman' - "look like small fry with his bold dealings."
Murray, 52, said today: "It's great that I'm going to be part of one of the best shows on television. I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into the role."
Murray has already appeared in EastEnders back in 1991 when he played a crook who drove into the Square and crashed a car into the arches.
Jonny Allen will be seen on screen early next year.
