The 33-year-old actress admitted that she captured the attention of Hollywood's Will Ferrell and Danny McBride by telling them about her Brookside gay storyline during breaks in shooting the movie.
Speaking to The People, she commented: "Oh, they loved talking about my lesbian thing. They all love that.
"They were always like: 'She's a famous lesbian in England'. I would reply: 'Yeah, alright boys. Moving swiftly on'."
Friel's alter ego Beth Jordache is best remembered for locking lips with neighbour Margaret Clemence (Nicola Stephenson) on the Channel 4 show in 1993. It was British soap's first ever lesbian kiss.
The star, who plays Holly Cantrell in Land Of The Lost, recently insisted that she is unfazed when the media mentions her time on the axed programme, adding that she is proud of her past.
