Emmerdale's midweek episode was the most-watched soap of the day on Wednesday, early figures show.

The rural soap's third instalment of the week, during which Faye revealed that she intended on staying in the village, averaged 5.97m (32.8%) at 7pm.

Paul's shocking confession in Neighbours, meanwhile, was watched by 1.42m (11.3%) at 5.30pm. Fiver's 7pm repeat added a further 183k (1.1%).

Channel 4's edition of Hollyoaks at 6.30pm took 1.4m (8.2%), before E4's first look managed 473k (2.9%). Its timeshift repeat on E4+1 added 180k (1%).

Doctors' episode, titled 'But For The Grace of God' attracted 1.29m (18.8%) in its usual timeslot of 1.45pm.

Five's outing of Home and Away at 6pm interested 1.05m (6.7%), while Fiver's first look had 533k (3.5%) 30 minutes later.
