'Neighbours' Harold
Neighbours legend Harold Bishop has been named the top soap bloke of all time by Loaded magazine.

A poll of 2,000 readers named the Ramsay Street stalwart, portrayed by Ian Smith, as the most popular male soap character of all time, ahead of EastEnders' Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and Bishop's fellow Erinsborough local Lou Carpenter (Tom Oliver).

"Goodness gracious me - that's given me a huge head," Smith said.

"I enjoyed the show so much and had quite fallen in love with silly old fart Harold."

Earlier this year, the 70-year-old actor left the soap after 22 years on screen.

Rounding out the top five were Emmerdale's Zac Dingle (Steve Halliwell) and Coronation Street's Fred Elliot (John Savident).

EastEnders' Robbie Jackson (Dean Gaffney) took sixth place, followed by Home and Away's Alf Stewart (Ray Meagher), Hollyoaks' Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard), EastEnders' Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and Neighbours' Dr Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher).
