As reported on Saturday, the BBC confirmed reports that Leslie Grantham has been axed from EastEnders, but the actor tells a different story, reports The Sun.
"It is not right that they fired me. I saw the bosses last week and told them I didn't want to renew my contract," the 57-year-old actor told a friend.
His friend added: "Leslie doesn't know what he is going to do next year. He doesn't appear to have any other work lined up."
Grantham will film Dirty Den's final scenes in January which will leave him with no opportunity to return.
