Coronation Street was the most-watched soap yesterday, leading the second refreshed Thursday night drama schedule.

The episode, which saw Joe being backed into a corner by David over his pill addiction, pulled in 7.49m (35.5%) in its new 8.30pm slot. ITV2's 10.30pm repeat added a further 292k (2%).

Ronnie's romp with Ryan in the cellar of The Vic during last night's EastEnders interested 7.15m (37.7%) at 7.30pm. BBC Three's 10pm repeat was the most-watched multichannel programme of the day, adding 666k (3.6%).

Emmerdale's double bill at 7pm and 8pm, during which Val's recklessness with Rodney was exposed and consequences ensued, logged 5.62m (32.3%) and 6.4m (33.1%).

Doctors' instalment 'The MacGyvers', which guest starred Tom Watt and Sue Jenkins, put in 1.45m (18.7%) at 1.45pm.

Five's edition of Neighbours, in which Steph offered to be Libby's surrogate, interested 1.43m (11.7%) at 5.30pm. Fiver's 7pm repeat added 211k (1.3%).

Channel 4's screening of Hollyoaks, in which Mike lashed out at Ste, averaged 1.24m (7.6%) in its traditional 6.30pm timeslot, before E4's first look managed 477k (3.1%).

Five's showing of Home and Away had 1.09m (7.3%) at 6pm, while Fiver's first look was seen by 546k (3.7%) half an hour later.
