ITV soap Coronation Street was the most-watched soap yesterday evening, overnight figures show.

The Manchester soap's third edition of the week, which saw Jim and Andy bid farewell to Weatherfield, logged 7.66m (34.8%) at 8.30pm.

Jim Branning's return to Albert Square in EastEnders was seen by 6.48m (32.4%). BBC Three's 10pm repeat was the most-watched multichannel programme of the day, adding a further 801k (4.4%).

Emmerdale's double bill, during which John slapped Aaron before being arrested, was watched by 5.52m (30.5%) and 6.22m (30%) at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV1.

BBC One's episode of Doctors, titled 'There's No Telling: Part II' averaged 1.53m (19.7%) at 1.45pm.

Libby and Steph's reconciliation in Neighbours at 5.30pm on Five, meanwhile, interested 1.23m (9.6%), while Fiver's repeat added 206k (1.3%) at 7pm.

Hollyoaks' outing at 6.30pm on Channel 4 managed 1.13m (6.8%), before E4's first look managed 459k (2.8%). Its timeshift repeat on E4+1 added 162k (0.9%).
