BBC soap EastEnders comfortably led the soap ratings last night by almost two million.

The Walford serial's second instalment of the week, which saw the first half of Garry and Dawn's wedding day end in disaster, pulled in 7.63m (39%) at 7.30pm.

BBC Three's repeat, meanwhile, was the most-watched multichannel programme of the day, drawing its largest audience since July 14 with 992k (5.5%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale's offering at 7pm, during which Val came clean with Pollard about her scheme, averaged 5.78m (32.1%).

BBC One's episode of Doctors, titled 'Empty Nest', put in 1.58m (23%) at 1.45pm.

Hollyoaks managed 1.36m (8.2%) in its usual 6.30pm timeslot, while E4's first look had 426k (2.6%) at 7pm. E4+1's timeshift repeat added 122k (0.6%).

Five's screening of Neighbours, which featured Bridget giving birth, averaged 1.34m (11.1%) at 5.30pm, while Fiver's repeat added 252k (1.5%).
