Coronation Street's first two episodes of the week led the soap ratings last night, according to early figures.

The Manchester soap's double bill, which saw Lloyd finally track down Slug, prompting a meeting between Hooch, was seen by 8.82m (42.8%) and 9.4m (40.4%) at 7.30pm and 8.30pm. The second episode's audience was the highest since July 20.

ITV2's repeats from 11pm added 236k (2.4%) and 222k (3.2%) respectively.

BBC One's EastEnders had its highest audience since August 4, averaging 8.59m (38.2%) for its outing at 8pm, during which the Mitchells dealt with Sam's shock return. BBC Three's repeat at 10pm added a further 654k (3.5%).

Emmerdale's instalment, which saw Cain and Faye share a kiss, took 6.34m (33.9%) at 7pm.

BBC One's screening of Doctors, titled 'Toss of a Coin' had 1.52m (23.2%) at 1.45pm.

Five's outing of Neighbours managed 1.37m (10.1%) at 5.30pm, while Fiver's 7pm repeat had 209k (1.2%).

The revelation that Bel and Gov are Anita's adoptive parents during last night's Hollyoaks was watched by 1.37m (7.8%) at 6.30pm. E4's first look put in 514k (3%).

Five's offering of Home and Away at 6pm drew 1.18m (7.2%), before Fiver's first look had 605k (3.8%).
