Coronation Street led the soap ratings battle yesterday evening, overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield soap's third instalment of the week, during which Becky discovered that the drugs charges against her had been dropped, pulled in 7.74m (35.1%) at 8.30pm. ITV2's repeat at 10.30pm added 310k (2.4%).

BBC One's edition of EastEnders drew 7.61m (39.3%) at 7.30pm, before its BBC Three repeat at 10pm added a further 805k (4.7%).

Emmerdale's Thursday audience was down slightly on last week, with only the first instalment managing to top the 6m mark.

Its 7pm screening, during which Carl told Paddy about his one-night stand with Chas, averaged 6.51m (31.7%), while its 8pm ep managed 5.81m (32.9%).

Doctors' outing, titled 'His Coy Mistress', averaged 1.48m (26.4%) at 1.45pm.

The Kennedys' good news in Neighbours was shared with 1.22m (10.1%) at 5.30pm on Five, while a further 248k (1.5%) tuned in for Fiver's repeat.

Channel 4's edition of Hollyoaks, which saw Ravi confirm Ash's deception, was seen by 1.21m (7.5%) in its usual 6.30pm timeslot. Channel 4+1's timeshift repeat added 140k (0.8%).

E4's first look screening put in 530k (3.3%) at 7pm, before E4+1's repeat had 137k (0.7%).

Home and Away's episode, which featured the Walkers' arrival in the Bay, took 1.03m (7.1%) at 6pm. Fiver's first look averaged 493k (3.4%).
