EastEnders was the most-watched soap again last night, early figures show.

The Walford serial's second episode of the week, during which Archie vowed to exact revenge on the Mitchells, drew 8.17m (39.5%) at 7.30pm. BBC Three's 10pm repeat was the most-watched multichannel programme of the day, adding a further 856k (4.9%).

Emmerdale's offering, which saw Cain warn Michael to stay away from Debbie, averaged 6.29m (32.8%) at 7pm.

BBC One's Doctors, titled 'Bad Hair Day', pulled in 1.52m (22.7%) at 1.45pm.

Hollyoaks' instalment had 1.48m (8.1%) at 6.30pm, while E4's first look logged 489k (2.8%). E4+1's timeshift repeat added 193k (1%).

Bridget's death in Neighbours was seen by 1.47m (10.9%) at 5.30pm, before a further 339k (1.9%) tuned in for the repeat at 7pm on Fiver - its highest repeat audience since April 30.

Meanwhile, Belle's funeral in Home and Away was seen by 1.05m (6.2%). Fiver's first look managed 536k (3.2%).
