The 31-year-old will reportedly star as a mysterious new character who becomes closely connected to mobster Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).
"We are thrilled to announce that James Franco will play an integral part in a lengthy run on General Hospital this fall," executive producer Jill Farren Phelps told SoapNet.
"It's an honour that an actor of James's calibre would choose to spend some of his valuable time in Port Charles."
Franco will make his debut on November 20 and is expected to stay on the show for several weeks.
