Former EastEnders actor Jack Ryder has admitted to taking anti-depressants to help cope with the pressures of fame.
Ryder, who played Jamie Mitchell in the BBC soap, described his heart-throb status was "a bloody nightmare."
"I couldn't even go to the Nike store to buy a pair of trainers - they'd have to close the shop to stop people coming in, especially girls," said Ryder.
"It may sound like every bloke's dream to have girls throwing themselves at you but, to be honest, it was a bloody nightmare.
"It's awful. That's one of the reasons I decided to leave. It was taking over."
He added: "I'm quite a boring individual really."
