Soaps Ratings Roundup: October 22

EastEnders led the soap ratings battle yesterday evening, overnight figures show.

The BBC soap repeated its Thursday lead for the sixth time since rival ITV revamped its Thursday drama schedule in July.

Last night's edition of the Walford serial, during which Heather left a message for her baby daddy, drew 8.7m (39.6%) at 7.30pm. BBC Three's 10pm repeat added a further 718k (3.8%).

Coronation Street, meanwhile, was seen by 7.97m (32.5%) an hour later at 8.30pm. ITV2's repeat screening at 11pm interested 305k (2.2%).

Emmerdale's double bill, which featured a kiss between Cain and Charity, and Cain making his former flame an offer to leave the village, averaged 6.63m (33.3%) and 6.79m (29.6%) at 7pm and 8pm.

BBC One's episode of Doctors, yesterday titled 'The Informant', put in 1.72m (24%) at 1.45pm.

Jake and Loretta's kiss in Hollyoaks was seen by 1.37m (7.1%) at 6.30pm, while its timeshift repeat on Channel 4+1 added 124k (0.6%). E4's first look instalment took 434k (2.3%).

Five's showing of Neighbours logged 1.34m (9.2%) at 5.30pm, before Fiver's 7pm repeat added 322k (1.7%).

Home and Away's transmission at 6pm managed 1.07m (6.1%). A further 599k (3.4%) tuned in for Fiver's first look.
