Coronation Street topped the soap ratings yesterday evening, overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield soap's first double bill of the week, which saw a determined Maria wanting to phone Carla and Pam rumbling Molly and Kevin's affair, was seen by 9.91m (41.6%) and 10.09m (41.5%) at 7.30pm and 8.30pm respectively.

Darren's visit to see Heather and his son George Michael during last night's EastEnders was watched by 9.12m (37.4%) at 8pm, before a further 683k (3.8%) tuned in for BBC Three's repeat showing at 10pm. The repeat was also the most-watched multichannel programme of the day.

Emmerdale's offering drew 7.36m (34.2%) at 7pm.

Hollyoaks managed its highest Channel 4 audience since May 18 as 1.79m (1%) caught the teen soap's 6.30pm edition. Channel 4+1's timeshift repeat added 218k (1%), while E4's first look managed 410k (2.1%).

Five's instalment of Neighbours, which featured Rebecca and Paul's wedding, drew 1.66m (10.3%) at 5.30pm, before Fiver's 7pm repeat added 201k (1%).

BBC One's daily dose of Doctors, yesterday titled 'Rivals', put in 1.5m (19.3%) at 1.45pm.

Home and Away's offering at 6pm on Five averaged 1.19m (6.1%). Fiver's first look took 560k (2.9%).
