
BBC soap EastEnders led the early evening soap battle yesterday, pulling in 8.3m to its ITV rival's 7.7m.
The Walford soap's latest instalment, which saw Archie continue with his plan to destroy the Mitchells from within, drew 8.31m (38.5%) at 7.30pm, while BBC Three's 10pm repeat added a further 650k (3.6%).
Coronation Street, meanwhile, averaged 7.74m (32.8%) for its outing, which saw Tony Gordon suffer a heart attack. ITV2's repeat at 11pm interested 382k (3.3%).
ITV's double bill of Emmerdale, during which Carl searched for Cain's key to the security unit, before striking a deal with Charity, managed 6.64m (32.7%) and 6.66m (29.9%) at 7pm and 8pm respectively.

Five's instalment of Neighbours at 5.30pm put in 1.56m (9.9%), while Fiver's repeat at 7pm added 226k (1.2%).
Newt's decision to change his appearance in Hollyoaks was seen by 1.47m (7.5%) at the teen soap's usual time of 6.30pm, before a further 513k (2.7%) tuned in for E4's first look.
Home and Away's penultimate episode of the week had 1.1m (5.9%) at 6pm, while 539k (3%) caught Fiver's first look half an hour later.
