EastEnders led the soap ratings yesterday evening, overnight figures show.

The BBC soap's second instalment of the week, which saw Archie and Janine settle on their plot to torch The Vic, pulled in 8.73m (38.9%) at 7.30pm. BBC Three's repeat at 10pm added a further 816k (4.4%). and was the most-watched multichannel programme of the day.

David's fruitless marriage proposal in Emmerdale was seen by 7.01m (33.2%) at its usual time of 7pm.

Doctors' offering, titled 'Blind Faith' logged 1.8m (24.3%).

Fiver's offering of Neighbours at 5.30pm managed 1.64m (10%), while Fiver's 7pm repeat added 197k (1%).

Hollyoaks' 6.30pm episode on Channel 4 put in 1.56m (7.3%), before its timeshift repeat on Channel 4+1 had 108k (0.5%).

E4's first look interested 464k (2.3%), while a further 116k (0.5%) tuned in for the repeat on E4+1.

Home and Away's screening at 6pm on Five drew 1.26m (6.4%). Fiver's first look averaged 637k (3.2%).
