Coronation Street topped the Friday evening soap ratings last night, according to overnight figures.

ITV's final two visits of the week to Weatherfield, during which Tony appeared in court and Rosie announced that she's returning to college, drew 8.34m (39.8%) and 8.95m (39.4%) at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

BBC One's latest edition of EastEnders, in which Peggy discovered the truth about the Mitchells' financial situation, pulled 7.9m (36.7%) from 8pm.

BBC Three's 10pm repeat added 440k (2.2%), while the channel's re-run of EastEnders: The Two Faces of Lucas managed 351k (2.5%).

Mark's admission to Faye that he loves her in Emmerdale was seen by 6.37m (32.4%) in the 30 minutes from 7pm.

Doctors' offering, yesterday titled 'Crushed', logged 1.58m (22%) at its usual time of 1.45pm.

Channel 4's instalment of Hollyoaks at 6.30pm interested 1.41m (8.8%), before E4's first look took 511k (2.8%).

Five's Neighbours attracted 1.34m (6.8%) from 5.30pm, while Home and Away's 6pm screening managed 989k (5.4%).

Fiver's first look at Home and Away was watched by 485k (2.6%), before 131k (0.7%) tuned in to Neighbours' 7pm repeat.
