Coronation Street was the most-watched soap yesterday evening, with 9.8m tuning in for its standalone Monday evening episode.

The Weatherfield soap's latest outing, during which Rosie blackmailed John for more money, drew 9.82m (41.7%) from 7.30pm on ITV1.

BBC One's EastEnders, which saw Max and Phil's plan to fleece Ian take a surprise turn, pulled 8.95m (36.6%) from 8pm. BBC Three's repeat 10pm added 597k (3.1%).

Meanwhile, Emmerdale's screening at 7pm put in 7.06m (32.7%).

Doctors' first episode of the week, titled 'Far From The Tree', interested 1.79m (23.7%) from 1.45pm.

Channel 4's 6.30pm edition of Hollyoaks logged 1.51m (7.1%), before E4's first look took 627k (3.1%).

Five's Australian hour began with 1.49m (9.1%) tuning in for Neighbours at 5.30pm, while 968k (4.9%) stuck with the channel for Home and Away at 6pm.

Fiver's first look at the Summer Bay soap's next episode had 490k (2.5%). Neighbours' 7pm repeat added 228k (1.1%).
