Tracy-Ann Oberman, who joined EastEnders in the role a year ago, has signed a new one-year contract with the soap.
The deal, worth an estimated £120,000, will keep the character on screen until at least April 2006.
The BBC's head of drama John Yorke has said he has "big plans" for Chrissie, including a showdown with Peggy Mitchell over the Queen Vic when she returns this summer.
"Bring it on, I say," said Oberman. "Chrissie's strong and ballsy and more than a match for the Mitchells."
