Ex 'Idol' singer joins 'Neighbours' cast
A former contestant on Australian Idol has joined the cast of Neighbours, according to Sydney Confidential.

Dan O'Connor, a finalist from the talent series in 2004, joined the cast this week as Steve Parker, brother of Stuart (Blair McDonough).

McDonough himself joined the soap after appearing in a reality show: he came second in the first season of Big Brother down under.

"I was really packing it," O'Connor said of his first week on set. "I came on set and I didn't know anyone, only knew the cast by their characters."

O'Connor's part is initially a temporary role but if the character proves popular he could join the cast on a more permanent basis.
