The Walford soap's third and final edition of the week, which saw Ronnie trying to help a young little girl find her father, drew 8.95m (38.1%) at 7.30pm.
Meanwhile, Gail's court appearance in Coronation Street was witnessed by 8.14m (31.4%) from 8.30pm.
Since ITV unveiled its new drama schedule last July, EastEnders has logged 21 wins to Coronation Street's 13. The BBC soap has topped the ratings for the last seven weeks following a tie in the figures on January 28. Before that, EastEnders led for a further six weeks.
BBC Three's 10pm repeat of last night's EastEnders added a further 805k (4%).
Emmerdale's double bill, which featured Sally spiking Ashley's drink, before carrying out her last evil act, averaged 7.33m (33.6%) and 7.32m (29.6%) at 7pm and 8pm respectively.

Five's Australian hour began with 1.48m (9.2%) tuning in for Neighbours at 5.30pm, before 1.07m (5.7%) caught Home and Away half an hour later.
Home and Away's first look at tonight's ep from 6.30pm on Fiver put in 611k (3%), while Neighbours' 7pm repeat added 194k (0.9%) at 7pm.
Channel 4's screening of Hollyoaks, which saw the McQueens receive shock news, interested 1.22m (5.9%). E4's first look managed 491k (2.2%) half an hour later.
