Coronation Street has come out on top at the British Soap Awards 2005.
Last year the ITV show won a total of five awards but bagged eight this time round including Best Soap, Spectacular Scene of the Year and Best Actress for Suranne Jones.
The BBC's EastEnders, which suffered from a dip in ratings earlier this year, didn't leave the ceremony empty handed and managed to gain five awards including Best Actor for Shane Richie, who plays Alfie Moon, and Sexiest Male for Nigel Harman, who plays Dennis Rickman.
Chat show host and comic Paul O'Grady hosted the event, which will be broadcast this Wednesday on ITV1 at 8pm.
