'70s star Robin Askwith is close to signing a deal to join the cast of EastEnders.
The 56-year-old actor, who starred in the Confessions of a... film series, is apparently being lined up as a replacement for Alfie Moon.
"He's a cheeky chappie and will be a brilliant replacement when Shane Richie leaves at the end of the year," a source told The People.
"His auditions have gone well and the producers are really pleased with how he's bonded with the other cast members."
It is expected that Askwith's character will work behind the bar in the Queen Vic.
