Mike Reid to make 'EastEnders' return

Mike Reid has agreed to make a return to EastEnders at the end of the year, the BBC has confirmed.

Frank Butcher - last seen in Spain in 2002 - will be back in Walford for the trial of daughter Janine (Charlie Brooks) in December. Brooks will not be back as part of the storyline.

"He is only back for the duration of the trial but while he is there his presence ruffles a lot of feathers as old feelings resurface and old loyalties are tested," said a spokesperson.

Meanwhile, Matt Di Angelo has been cast as Deano Wicks, Pat's "cocky, charismatic" nephew.

The new character, who also appears in December, is said to have "an eye for the ladies and doesn't see anyone as out of his league".

"I can't wait to join EastEnders to play Deano," said Di Angelo, 18. "He's a combination of a young Alfie Moon and Del Boy. He rates himself quite highly too so he's going to have lots of fun in the square."
