The actor revealed that he has sympathy for Matt, who is now demanding access to his son Joshua, raised by Street favourite Ashley Peacock.
"If that were me and I was being denied access to my child I'd probably react quite similarly," he told the Sunday Mirror. "Everyone says that your life will never be the same when you're a parent, and intellectually you can understand that, but you don't really understand it until it happens."
He added, "I can see why some people will see Matt as the baddie - he’s coming in and upsetting a lot of people and causing chaos, but he has a child who he doesn't know - his flesh and blood - and I feel as though he does have a right to some sort of access.
"At the end of the day, Matt is Josh's biological father and I think anyone who is a biological father knows that there's a connection between them and their child."
