Corrie actor praises "fantastic" plot

The actor's character Jamie Baldwin has harboured feelings for stepmother Frankie for months, and despite his initial reservations about the idea, Rupert is thrilled to be involved in one of the Street's biggest plots.
"It's a sick thing to fancy your stepmum. But Jamie can't help himself," Rupert told the Sunday Mirror. "He's obsessed. When the idea was hinted at before, Debra - who plays Frankie - and I thought it was going a bit far.
"But things worse than this happen in real life. You just have to look at women's magazines. And the viewers wanted us to get together. In the end the writers bit the bullet and said: 'Let's do it'. As an actor it's fantastic - this is muscular stuff. And that's what the job is about. I'm privileged to have something decent to do. I'm not just going into the Rovers and ordering a pint."
