Corrie actress insists she's not rich

Coronation Street star Katherine Kelly has complained that people think she is rich since she joined the soap.

The actress - who plays bad girl Becky Granger on the show - has insisted that there has been no dramatic change in her life since she landed the role.

"People think that you are loaded and that you live your life like a Hollywood movie star and have your hair and nails done all the time. But it's really not like that," Katherine told The People.

"I don't have money to burn. Lots of the cast shop at Primark. I'm still in debt from my student days and paying off loans just like everybody else. But people expect to see you swanning around in a Jaguar."

Kelly praised the show's cast members for their "welcoming" nature on her first day, which helped her to settle in quickly.

"I've been on a lot of TV sets where there is a hierarchy and you don't necessarily feel comfortable speaking to certain people but there's none of that at Corrie," she explained.
