Darren Day for northern soap?

Darren as Jeff Slade in 'The Bill'
According to reports, the 39-year-old actor - whose birthday it is today - said: "I'm not allowed to say anything yet because nothing's concrete. It's a northern soap and the producers want me to play a love rat.
"If I was still dating lots of girls and falling out of nightclubs, I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it but now I've cleaned up my life, I think it would be fun to exploit my tabloid image."
He went on to say: "I wasn't guilty of everything I was accused of but I did deserve a lot of it because I wasn't faithful."
He added: "I cringe at my behaviour now. I tried but I just couldn't keep it in my trousers. I'd love to be able to sit down with all of my exes and say sorry."
However, Digital Spy can confirm that none of the three main northen soaps - Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks - is in talks with him, neither is BBC Scotland's River City.
Moving down the country, EastEnders have denied any talks with the actor as have ITV police drama, The Bill, in which Darren makes a guest appearance as photographer Jeff Slade next week.
A source at The Bill told DS: "We loved his performance - he was fantastic. If something ever came up in the future, we'd love to have him back."
The rumour follows a similar suggestion almost a month ago involving former I'm A Celebrity... star David Gest who, it was suggested, was to make a cameo appearance in Hollyoaks.
