New family with "dark secret" joins the Street

A new family is to join the Street next month. The Nelsons, pictured above, will move into the Ramsden's old house at number six on November 13.
The family comprises mother Angela (played by Kathryn Hunt), husband Tommy (Thomas Craig), 16-year-old daughter Katy (Lucy-Jo Hudson) and 12-year-old Craig (Richard Fleeshman). Tommy will get a job working for Kevin at the garage shortly after arrival.
Whilst they appear to be just an average family, the Nelsons have a "dark secret" which makes the other characters suspicious.
Producer Kieran Roberts said: "We are very excited about the arrival of the Nelsons on Coronation Street, not just because of their intriguing and dramatic family history but also because the four superb actors who play the Nelsons are going to be a tremendous addition to the cast."
Hunt, who can currently be seen in ITV prison drama Fat Friends, said: "It's a surreal experience to be working on the show. I've been a huge fan since I was 18. It will be interesting to see what viewers make of the Nelsons and their dark secret."
Craig added: "The intrigue surrounding the Nelson family is fascinating. Who knows where they come from and what their background is? I'm really looking forward to playing the role."
Hudson, 18, said she was starstruck to be working on one of the country's biggest soaps. "I still can't believe I'm here on Coronation Street, I'm a bit star-struck really. But everyone's lovely here and so down to earth, I'm loving it. Katy's a great character to play, she's a bit of a cow actually. She knows how to get her own way and she twists her dad round her little finger."
14-year-old Fleeshman added: "It still hasn't sunk in that I'm going to be in Coronation Street. Everything about the role is brilliant and I'm working with some great people."
