Phil Redmond, creator of Hollyoaks, has said that he might pull the series from Channel 4.

Redmond's comments come after his flagship soap, Brookside, was dropped from the network's primetime schedules, leading to speculation that it would be axed altogether when its contract expires next year.

"If they've screwed Brookside, is Channel 4 really the best place for Hollyoaks? Are we going to be messed around again in two years. time? These are the questions we have to ask," he said in an interview with the Media Guardian.

C4 are currently in talks with Redmond's company Mersey TV about a fifth weekly episode of Hollyoaks, but before agreeing to it, Redmond wants them to disclose what their plans for Brookside are.

"They want a fifth but we need the dust to settle to find out what is happening to Brookside," he added. "I honestly feel that they screwed up our brand quite badly. So is Channel 4 the best place for our second biggest brand to be? We need to sit down and see what the situation is."
