Fenwick on his 'EastEnders' wedding

Perry Fenwick, better known as EastEnders' Billy Mitchell, has spoken about his upcoming on-screen marriage to Little Mo.

The scenes will be shown in a special Christmas Day episode of the soap, but were filmed several weeks ago.

"I was rather nervous about the whole thing, which was good because most grooms usually are," he told The Mirror. "I've never been married, so it was wierd exchanging vows. Halfway through I thought, 'Hang on, this could be real because it is in a church.' You have to remind yourself that the person conducting the ceremony is an actor.

"Kacey Ainsworth looked a treat as Little Mo, really beautiful, but it didn't make me want to rush out and get married -- I am happy as I am."

Fenwick joined the cast four years ago, during which time his character has evolved from bad guy to good guy.

"The public have warmed to him and see him as a reformed character," he continued. "He was a nasty piece of goods at first because he was drunk and violent, but they regard him differently now they know he was abused as a child. They see him as a sort of Del Boy or Arthur Daley. He gets up to all sorts, but there is no real harm done.

"Now that people know about the wedding they stop me in the street to tell me Billy and Mo are right for each other -- and it's true. Since he first saw her, he knew she was the girl for him. They also tell me to make sure Billy looks after her. There is no reason why he shouldn't. He loves her and will do anything for her, but you never know how things are going to turn out in a soap. Marriages have a habit of going wrong..."
