The actor, who plays Mark Wylde, confirmed that he has developed a newfound appreciation for nature since joining the Leeds-based soap.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Caulfield revealed: "I just love the countryside. The spring in Yorkshire has been beautiful. All the lambs and the baby rabbits and the birds.
"My wife and I have become fascinated with the red kites that circle around Harewood. They're beautiful creatures.
"The great thing about Leeds is you have the city, but then the country is just a short drive away. It's hard to find that anywhere else."
Caulfield signed up for Emmerdale in September last year and was first seen on screen in January.
"It's a gruelling workload but I'm enjoying it," he added. "Emmerdale has a really good balance between comedy and high drama. I really do think it's a great soap and I love being a part of it."
