Behind the scenes with James Sutton at 'Emmerdale'
Published Tuesday, Jun 9 2009, 06:00 BST | By Kris Green
Former Hollyoaks actor James Sutton makes his screen debut in Emmerdale next week as Faye Lamb's (Kim Thomson) son Ryan.
A mechanic by trade, Ryan Lamb arrives in the Dales after being made redundant from his previous job and hopes to spend some time with his mother while he secures new employment. Unbeknown to Ryan, however, Faye has made contact with his father Mark Wylde (Maxwell Caulfield) - a man who she believed to have been dead for the past 27 years.
Having never seen his dad, Ryan finds himself talking to Mark thinking that he's his mother's new boyfriend. Just how long will Ryan's paternity remain a secret?
Speaking of his new character, Sutton told DS: "He's a laddish lad and an out of work mechanic. He's grown up with his mum and is very protective of her. I wouldn't say he's a ladies' man, but he has an eye for the pretty ladies in the village. He's a nice guy, but when the storyline progresses and we discover things about Ryan's family, the audience might possibly see another side to him - maybe a darker side..."
Here, DS presents a gallery of images from the 26-year-old's first day filming with Emmerdale.
