'Emmerdale' to air real-time episode

ITV soap Emmerdale has filmed a real-time episode revolving around a rooftop baby kidnap plot.

The episode, which is due to transmit in a fortnight's time, features only five characters and focuses on the events following Lexi King's (Sally Oliver) decision to run to the hospital roof with Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) and Jimmy's (Nick Miles) newborn baby girl Angelica.

The devastated new parents watch with Scarlett (Kelsey-Beth Crossley) as Carl (Tom Lister) attempts to coax her away from the roof's edge.

However, with Carl refusing to admit his true feelings for his wife and Lexi having suffered an ectopic pregnancy only weeks beforehand, her mind is in a dark place and she struggles to hold herself together. Will the depths of desperation cause her to jump?

An Emmerdale source told DS: "It's a particularly moving and dramatic 30 minutes as Lexi forces Carl to come clean about his true feelings - whatever the cost."

They added: "Sally's performance is particularly moving and the real-time angle adds to the drama of what is a truly gripping episode."

The episode is due to transmit on Thursday, August 13.
