Ogbourne: 'Emmerdale' deserves awards'

Lyndon Ogbourne has claimed that Emmerdale deserves to win more awards.

Ogbourne, who plays Nathan Wylde in the soap, claimed that it is "massively" unfair that the programme didn't win anything at the recent Inside Soap Awards.

According to PA, Ogbourne praised the show's producer Gavin Blyth and said that Emmerdale has become "the best show on telly at the moment".

"With the Wylde family, with Kevin Fletcher's part, and loads of the more established parts, there's some really good acting going on and some good storylines being shown," he said.

"I think people have to start pulling their fingers out and start voting for Emmerdale."

Ogbourne added that the show has evolved recently and will now appeal to a younger audience.

"I think for a few years it was the soap for an older generation, and considered a soap so northern it almost took it out of the southerners' watchability zone, but I think it's brilliant."

Ogbourne recently described his Emmerdale character as "disgraceful".
