Siân Reeves wants Dales suicide plot

Emmerdale star Siân Reeves has revealed that she wants her character to commit suicide at the end of her current storyline.

The actress's crazed alter ego Sally Spode has been scheming to steal old flame and village vicar Ashley Thomas (John Middleton) from his wife Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) since arriving in the Dales earlier this year.

Discussing how the plot could reach a conclusion, Reeves told DS: "I'm hoping that she'll drown herself! It has to be something as fabulous as that. Unrequited love and utter madness."

She continued: "She'll try to do something that'll make Ashley love or remember her forever. Something that Ashley will never be able to erase from his memory. Maybe hang herself in the church or something - now that'd be an indelible print!"

In next week's episodes of the ITV1 soap, the villain takes her shocking campaign to a new extreme by causing a fire at the church and trapping her love rival inside.

Reeves signed a six-month contract with Emmerdale in July.
