Bellamy 'was relaxed about Dales fire'

Emmerdale actress Charlotte Bellamy has insisted that she felt happy and relaxed when she filmed shocking fire scenes for the soap recently.

The star was heavily pregnant with her third child when she shot the show's surprise plot twist, which sees her character Laurel Thomas being trapped in a burning church by love rival Sally Spode (Siân Reeves).

Bellamy told Inside Soap: "I was fine - I treated it like a yoga class. I'm so relaxed about things like that. Everyone else has been more worried about my condition than I have!"

Discussing the pressures of working while pregnant, she continued: "I had to be quite disciplined about things, and went straight home to bed most days after filming. A good night's sleep always helps."

Laurel's terrifying ordeal comes as part of Sally's plan to steal the Dales favourite's place in the affections of vicar Ashley (John Middleton).

Bellamy said: "Laurel's horrified. It's an awful feeling, to be trapped inside like that with no way of getting out. It's made even worse by the fact it's in a church - you can't see properly out of the windows."

The actress gave birth to baby daughter Teddie Boo Florence last month. Her character's fire scenes will air on the programme next week.
