Former Hear'Say singer Suzanne Shaw has expressed her delight at being cast in Emmerdale.

The ex-popstar was today confirmed to play Edna Birch's (Shirley Stelfox) wild child granddaughter Eve in the long-running ITV soap.

Shaw revealed her reaction to the news on her official blog, writing: "I cant believe it... The dales its gonna be my home for a year! I hope I do you all proud (sic).

"I start filming on the 15th feb. I'm so excited but very nervous. Enda's granddaughter thats gonna be strange. Cant wait to see my storylines, I hope they are juicey!!"

The 27-year-old went on to say that another bonus of her new job is that she will get to spend more time with husband Jason King, whom she wed last June.

"So lots to do in very little time!" she added. "I will be commuting lots so im sure its going to be stressful. Great thing is Jay works next door to Emmerdale studios so we will see a lot more of each other… Finally!"
