Emmerdale's new recruit Suzanne Shaw has revealed that she is thrilled by the friendships she has made since making her debut on the soap.

The actress recently landed the part of Edna Birch's (Shirley Stelfox) granddaughter Eve Jenson on the Yorkshire-based drama and her first scenes will be broadcast next week.

As well as Stelfox, Shaw has been working closely with James Sutton over the past few weeks as his character Ryan Lamb is the first to capture the attention of her flirtatious alter ego.

Speaking to DS about her first few weeks on set, Shaw explained: "Everyone's been really welcoming. James was really lovely on the first day I met him - I actually filmed my first scene with him on my very first day. He took me on a guided tour around the village.

"And then Shirley - she's just such a great mentor. She's really taken me under her wing."

She added: "There aren't any egos on the show because everyone grafts so hard. That's what makes it such a great working environment - it's so relaxed."
